The Melbreak Communities comprises the four parishes of Blindbothel, Buttermere, Lorton and Loweswater, just south of Cockermouth in West Cumbria, which have come together to produce a Community Action Plan. As part of this programme, this community website was started in May 2010 with the aim of providing a unique, point source of information for people living or working in or visiting the area. If anyone has any comments about the website or any news to pass on, the best thing to do is to post a message on the Message Board. On some pages (eg Community Plan), you can post messages specific to that subject. Alternatively, you can pass on news by email to the administrator from the Contact page.

Here’s a list of recently-added or recently-amended pages:
Transport for details of the new Village Wheels minibus service to and from Cockermouth
Things to do in the valley for walks
Community Issues pages for the Community Plan, Nuclear Waste Disposal, etc
Wildlife in the Valley to see Alan Gane’s articles
Site map, showing the site structure on one page.

If you can’t find something on the site, try the Search button at the bottom of every page. If you find a link that is broken, please let me know by email.

Use of the site – May 2010 to May 2012
Over the first 2 years, there has been over 23,000 page viewings and the average has increased from  16 per day in 2010 through 37 per day in 2011 to 50 per day so far this year. The busiest time was August 2011 when the site averaged 77 page viewings per day with 260 on one day – from memory, the August weather was dreadful so maybe there is a correlation between the weather (or rather the difference between what it should be and what it is) and computer use.
