The Melbreak Communities comprises the four parishes of Blindbothel, Buttermere, Lorton and Loweswater, just south of Cockermouth in West Cumbria, which have come together to produce a Community Action Plan. As part of this programme, this community website was started in May 2010 with the aim of providing a unique, point source of information for people living or working in or visiting the area. If anyone has any comments about the website or any news to pass on, the best thing to do is to post a message on the Message Board. On some pages (eg Community Plan), you can post messages specific to that subject. Alternatively, you can pass on news by email to the administrator from the Contact page.

Here’s a list of recently-added or recently-amended pages:
Wildlife in the Valley to see the first of Alan Gane’s articles
Community Action Plan to see the recently-published plan
Commercial Services, Miscellaneous for some new ones

If you can’t find something on the site, try the Search button at the bottom of every page. If you find a link that is broken, please let me know by email.

To give you some feedback on use of the site over its first 12 months, there has been a little over 8,000 page viewings which makes an average of about 22 per day and just over 200 on the busiest day. Use of the website is increasing as the average viewings in the first half of 2011 (about 30 pages per day) is roughly twice that during 2010. It’s not possible to tell who’s visiting the site, but Prince Charles might just have had a quick look at the photos of himself visiting the new Lorton Bridge last February (see here)
