A) Southwaite

Temporary road closure which has been reactivated to allow Metcalfe Civil Engineering access to carry out repair works to Southwaite Bridge.

These works are expected to commence 01 October 2018 with an approximate duration of 6 weeks.

Please see below details of the extents of the closure and alternative route;

Location: C2027 Southwaite Bridge for a distance of approx.50m either side of the centre line of the bridge.

Alternative Route: A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C2027, A5086 (Cockermouth) and the B5292.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the works pedestrian and dismounted cyclist access will not be maintained through this closure. 


B) Braithwaite

Temporary road closure put in place to allow repair works to be carried out to Braithwaite High Bridge following the damage caused during Storm Desmond.

These works are expected to commence 10th September 2018 with an approx. duration of 12 weeks

Location: B5292 Braithwaite High Bridge, Braithwaite from its junction with the U2216 extending in a westerly direction for a distance of approx. 200m..

Alternative Route: A alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the B5292, A5086 (Cockermouth), and A66 (Braithwaite). 

Please note: Due to the nature of the works it is not possible to maintain access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists through the road closure, therefore a diversion route will be made available and signs appropriately on site.
