A. Upper Lorton

Please find attached details in relation to an urgent road closure which has been put in place to allow United Utilities to carry out urgent utility repair works due to a burst water main.

 

This notice came into operation today (19 March 2020) and is expected to remain in place for an approx. duration of 5 days.

 

Please see below details of the extents of the closure and diversion route;

 

Location: U2207 Lorton, adjacent the property known as the Old Wesleyan Chapel, for an approx. distance of 50m in a south easterly direction

 

Alternative Route: A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the U2207 and the B5292 Whinlatter Pass.

B. Newlands Pass

Please find attached details in relation to an emergency road closure which has been put in place because of the likelihood of danger as a result of a landslide causing undermining to the carriageway.

 

This emergency order first came into operation on the 10 February 2020, the attached is the 2nd 21 day notice dated 02 March 2020 and this will be followed by a temporary 18 month order.

 

Please see below details of the extents of the closure and diversion route;

 

Location: C2058 Newlands Pass, Buttermere, approx. 800m north east of its junction with the B5289 for an approx. distance of 200m n a north easterly direction.

 

Alternative Route: A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be available via the unrestricted sections of the C2058, C2057 (Portinscale), A66, A5271 (Keswick) and the B5289 (Buttermere).

 

C. Whinlatter Pass

Please find attached details in relation to an urgent road closure which has been put in place to enable urgent drainage repair works to be carried out.

This notice came into operation today (16 March 2020) and is expected to remain in place for an approx. duration of 5 days.

Please see below details of the extents of the closure and diversion route;

Location: Whinlatter Pass, approx. 450m west of its junction with the A66 for an approx. distance of 200m in a north westerly direction

Alternative Route: A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of Whinlatter Pass, Lorton Road, A66, B5292 (Cockermouth) A5086 and A66.
