A) Please find attached location plan showing the extents of a temporary road closure which has been put in place to allow Cumbria Highways to carry out carriageway repair works.
These works are expected to commence 21st January 2019 with an approx. duration of 10 days.
Please see below details of the extents of the closure and diversion route;
Location: B5292 Braithwaite from its junction with the A66, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 1km.
Alternative Route: A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and an alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the B5292 (Lorton), A5086 (Cockermouth), A66 (Braithwaite).
PLEASE NOTE: THE EXTENTS OF THIS CLOSURE WILL BE CARRIED OUT UNDER 2 PHASES TO MINIMISE DISRUPTION AND MAINTAIN AS MUCH ACCESS AS POSSIBLE TO THE VILLAGE:
PHASE 1 – From the A66 to the Royal Oak junction
PHASE 2 – From the Royal Oak junction to Braithwaite High Bridge
B) temporary road closure which has been reactivated to allow Metcalfe Civil Engineering access to carry out repair works to Southwaite Bridge.
These works are expected to commence 07 January 2019 with an approximate duration of 6 weeks.
Please see below details of the extents of the closure and alternative route;
Location: C2027 Southwaite Bridge for a distance of approx.50m either side of the centre line of the bridge.
Alternative Route:A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C2027, A5086 (Cockermouth) and the B5292.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the works pedestrian and dismounted cyclist access will not be maintained through this closure.
