Lorton Oil Group

lortonoilgroup@gmail.com

Over the last 12 months (July 2022 – July 2023) we have made an average saving of 3.57p/l compared to the local average price, saving ~ £2,650 for the 30 members.

The annual donations have raised ~ £500 for Melbreak Communities to distribute to local good causes.

In addition, LOG members can also receive a 10% discount on oil boiler/Aga/Rayburn servicing through group bookings made with a local OFTEC registered heating engineer.

The voluntary annual membership fee paid to Melbreak Communities has helped local charities e.g. Great North Air Ambulance, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue and First responders and West Cumbria Hospice at Home; and good causes such as the Yew Tree Hall Garden, Fork to Fork plant growing initiative at Lorton School, Lorton Notice boards, and the Age UK funded lunch.

Environmentally we have also significantly reduced the number of road tankers that trundle up and down the valley, saving 1000’s of tanker miles and emissions.

If you would like to continue/ become a new member for the 2023/24 ‘Oil Year’ Liz Roberts will collate £20 donations by cheque for Melbreak Communities, please make cheques payable to “The Melbreak Communities” and send to: Liz Roberts at Lorton Bridge Cottage, Low Lorton, CA13 9TB

Apologies in advance – but the Lorton Oil Group is based over the Lorton, Swinside, Rogerscale & Thackthwaite area to keep it manageable for me. If anyone is interested in starting an equivalent group, I’m happy to provide some support!
